Awakening Dawa
27''H x 24''W
Near the spring solstice, the Dawa (or Sun) comes to
each village to awaken the Kachinas and let them know that he is
rising higher in the sky. With this, he brings the promise to the
Hopis that the kachinas will once again return to dance. He is the
Father of all creation and as he rises in the eastern sky, he gathers
the prayers of all people. At dusk, he will take the prayers to the
other world to be heard.
